Recently I showed Kate Sesame Street clips from the early 1970s, including one of a small child touching a goat's horns at a petting zoo. When I asked what the child was doing, Kate said, "She is patting the goat's antennae."
She doesn't know "horns," but she got the plural of "antenna" right.

ha! i got the dvd of the first season of sesame street out of the library and i couldn't believe how different it was -- the set was true to an inner city neighborhood and looked a little grimy, there was "laundry" hanging on lines in the background. the segments seemed largely unscripted.
i was amused and annoyed by the disclaimer given at the beginning that these episodes are not meant to be viewed by children, an obvious CYA in case some kid should try to emulate the good ol' days and, say, goes climbing all over the concrete pipes at a construction site (a segment on one episode showed kids doing this very thing to illustrate "over" and "under") and breaks his head.
ah, the 70s. so glad i got to be a kid before everyone got scared.
